Brunico Bruneck

The city's

Brunico stands in the heart of the Pusteria Valley, between the stream Aurino and the river Rienza.
Things to do and places to visit around here are many.
The “Main Street”, that passes through the center of the town, is extremely picturesque and has lots of architectural details.
The oldest parts of most of the buildings have been dated to the 15th and 14th centuries and have been partially rebuilt after the big fire that turned the historical center apart in 1723.
The most popular citizen who used to live in this town was Michael Pacher, great artist and sculptor, who died in 1498.
At the eastern side of the Main Street stands the great parish church, consecrated in 1853. It picks up a series of different styles, with predominance for the neo-Byzantine and neo-Romanesque.
About 3 km south of Brunico stands “Plan de Corones” (2277 m), a great panoramic peak between the Dolomites and the Breonie Alps.
During the wintertime it is a huge tourist attraction for skiers of every kind.
