Vipiteno - Sterzing

The city's

This is the most northern city of Italy, stands at the beginning of Brennero’s Pass and is one of the urban treasures of Alto Adige.
In Mitra’s Square, the most important in the city, stands the symbol of the town: a civic tower made out of blocks of granite. Its name is Tower delle Dodici.

At the beginning of the city we find the Church of the Holly Spirit (Santo Spirito), which is integrated in the buildings of the old civic hospital.
In this church there are frescos that belong to Hans von Brunneck.
The old hospital hosts a Museum dedicated to Multscher.

Right in front of the old hospital we can also admire the late Romanesque gravestone of Mitra, which has been discovered around Mules.
The city of Vipiteno used to hosts especially craftsmen’s workshops, which were essential for the sector of trade.
At the southern part of the city stands the parish church of “Nostra Signora nella Palude”, a late Gothic construction.
